In search of Boophone

As part of the Longyuan Mulilo joint partnership's Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and Environmental Authorisation (EA) it was stipulated that professional faunal and floral search and rescue be done on all areas marked for development including roads, site camps, laydown areas and turbine positions. During this activity Boophone disticha, a poisonous bulbous plant that requires a licence for removal and relocation, was discovered.

Government gets tough on Invasive Aliens

Well actually, Government is getting tough on landowners who have invasive species on their property and individuals and businesses who deal in listed species.

NCC participates in leading conservation conference

Over the past few years, the ‘Symposium of Contemporary Conservation Practice’ organised by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has become the leading gathering of conservation scientists and practitioners in South Africa. NCC’s Conservation Business Unit attended for the second year running to be part of the conversation exploring the practice, science and value of nature conservation.

World Environment Day 2014

World Environment Day falls on the 5th June and National Environment Week takes place from the 1st to the 5th June in South Africa.

World Biodiversity Day 2014

International Day for Biological Diversity (or World Biodiversity Day as it is commonly known) is celebrated on the 22nd of May every year, and every year is a different theme. This year the theme is Island Biodiversity and aims to raise awareness of islands and their unique biodiversity.
