World Environment Day Education Session

The 5th of June was World Environment Day, and some NCC staff members held an environmental education session at a local school in Westlake to celebrate this day, and give back to the community.

NCC CSI: People Working for their Environment

A key objective of NCC’s CSI Programme is to give practical effect to our vision of Real Growth for People, Planet and Business. In order to meet this objective in 2014 we have formed a partnership with Pioneer Foods, WWF and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality in order to implement Phase 3 of the ‘People Working for their Environment’ project.

Operation Hungry Lynx: June 2013

Operation Hungry Lynx is an NCC Environmental Services (NCC) Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative where NCC staff package non-perishable goods into bags which are then given to the less fortunate. The packaging event is a highlight of the NCC CSI programme and is an immensely fun, hands-on and rewarding experience for all who are involved.

New Balance 'Dump Your Ex' Campaign

New Balance, Western Cape tested a donation initiative called ‘Dump Your Ex’ that provided the incentive of a 20% discount to customers who brought in an old pair of running shoes to be donated to a needy organisation. New Balance approached NCC to distribute the shoes to worthy organisations who impact the community in a positive way. NCC identified three non-profit organisations to work with: Living Hope, Happy Happy Happy Feet and Masinyusane.

World Wetlands Day Clean-up at the Westlake Wetland

On the 2nd of February each year, it is World Wetlands Day. To show our support for wetland ecosystems and surrounding communities a group of professionals from NCC Environmental Services (NCC) gathered on the 7th February to clean the local wetland behind the Steenberg shopping centre.

Lwandlekazi 100% Programme

The Lwandlekazi 100% Programme is a multi-layered partnership between Lwandlekazi High School and Masinyusane Development Organisation. The purpose of the programme is to uplift the school, which is situated in New Brighton on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth, through a variety of parent-teacher-learner based initiatives.

NCC's 67 Minutes for Mandela Day

Mandela Day's objective is to build a global movement for good and to inspire individuals to take action. NCC is all about taking action for the environment and set out to make a difference at the Rondevlei wetland.
